‘As I See It’ is this year’s theme for the 18th annual ‘Young Art’ exhibition in aid of Cancer Research UK. Over 6,000 entries were received and works have been selected for this fund raising exhibition at the Royal College of Art in Kensington.
Ten pupils from James Allen’s Girls’ School have been selected for the exhibition.
Jessica Austin won Third Prize in the 14-16 year group; Florence Ashworth was Highly Commended by The London Sketch Club; Rose Stair was Highly Commended and Sophie Strong, Amelia Walsh and Madeleine Owen-Smith were Commended. Victoria Pearce, Poppy Simon, Helen Simpkiss and Annie Devlin were all chosen for the exhibition.
The selection includes a variety of media, including painting, drawing, textiles and printmaking.
All pupils will receive a special certificate to mark their achievements and they have been invited to attend an award ceremony and private view at the Royal College of Art with their families. The prizes will be presented by Professor Sir Christopher Frayling, Rector of the RCA and Chairman of the Arts Council on the 13th May.

The exhibition opens on Tuesday 13 May from 6-8pm. The Exhibition will remain open on Wednesday 14 May and Thursday 15 May from 11 am to 6pm. There is a small charge for entry in aid of the Cancer Research UK charity.
