Weekend news from JAGS
Year 7 pupils will now rapidly be feeling more of a community following their weekend trip to Bowles Outdoor Education Centre, where activities include night walks, kayaking, rock climbing, dry-slope skiing to puzzle-solving, high ropes and swimming, with extra fortification from the tuck shop (just this once!). Half of them went this weekend; half will have the pleasure soon.
Not to be outdone, more than forty pupils went on a weekend expedition in the Chilterns, a practice session for taking their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. What a gloriously sunny weekend to choose. Thank you to the staff who make these adventurous opportunities possible.
The Environmental Task Force is pleased to announce another award: JAGS has been given a beautifully engraved glass stand, a ‘sustainable’ award in recognition of achievement in sustainable travel initiatives, outlined in an approved travel plan.
Finally, congratulations to all those who played in the Foundation Schools Joint Orchestral and Wind Band Concert, hosted by Dulwich College. The enthusiastic audience was treated to Tchaikovsky’s ‘Souvenir de Florence’, Brahms ‘Symphony no.2’and an atmospheric contemporary piece, Stephen McNeff’s ‘Ghosts’, conducted by our Director of Music, Leigh O’Hara.
