Autumn News

It’s Science week at JAGS! Talks, demonstrations and experiments to plunge into: everything from messy chemistry, optical illusions, creepy crawlies, birds of prey, science, magic and art, and something intriguingly called ‘The LHC unwrapped’, for everyone from Years 7-13. (Reports will follow in subject areas).

We can’t resist mention of outstanding performances by U14 netball team who won all their Surrey Tournament matches so convincingly that they have been invited to take part in the National competition; and also many congratulations to the outstanding junior cross country team who have qualified for the National Finals. (More details of JAGS sports results in a separate news item).

Congratulations to the Year 7 Form Captains, who were awarded their badges today.

We will be marking Remembrance Day at 11 am on 11 November to commemorate the sacrifices of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war. In assembly today, Mrs Gibbs read from the playwright Aeschylus; the intense emotions he expressed through his characters, more than 2000 years ago, must have been felt at the end of the 1st World War, 90 years ago, and are shared today.

Sixth form lovers of poetry are invited to See And Hear poets: Peter Riley and R.F. Langley at 4.15pm on Friday 14 November at Dulwich College. Owing to this, the Year 12 and 13 English Seminar at JAGS on Thursday 13 November has been postponed.

Coming soon: Box Office booking form for the senior production, The Match Girls. If you have been frustrated accessing parents’ letters online, the booking form will give revised username and password details.
